About EcoBalance Solutions

EcoBalance Solutions is an agile, values-led sustainability consultancy supporting both public and private clients to accelerate the transition to net zero. Our services span retrofit and decarbonisation strategy, Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP), ESG and climate risk advisory, sustainable architecture consulting, carbon footprinting, and renewable energy feasibility. We work with local authorities, housing associations, design teams, and developers to deliver practical, evidence-based solutions across housing, infrastructure, and corporate portfolios. Our current projects range from PAS 2035 housing retrofit coordination and LEED/BREEAM advisory, to ESG frameworks and Scope 1–3 carbon audits.

We’re seeking a high-calibre Senior Consultant to lead project delivery across multiple service lines, support strategic decision-making, and mentor junior colleagues. This role is ideal for a technically competent, client-focused professional with deep experience in climate, sustainability, and energy consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and delivery of complex sustainability projects including LAEPs, Net Zero Roadmaps, Whole Life Carbon Assessments, ESG frameworks, and retrofit strategies

  • Manage stakeholder relationships with public and private clients, including local authorities, housing associations, developers, architects, and asset managers

  • Produce and review high-quality technical outputs including carbon models, policy analysis, client reports, business cases, and compliance documentation (e.g. SECR, TCFD)

  • Lead or contribute to funding readiness and investment strategy — including client-facing materials, cost-benefit analysis, and support for retrofit and net-zero delivery programmes

  • Oversee internal delivery teams or associates, ensuring quality assurance, workflow coordination, and team development

  • Scope, structure, and deliver client proposals, project budgets, and commercial strategy alongside Directors

  • Support thought leadership, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration within the business

  • Contribute to projects that incorporate circular economy principles, low-impact materials, and waste minimisation strategies as part of holistic sustainability planning

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in sustainability or environmental consultancy, including direct client delivery, project management, and technical leadership

Degree in a relevant field (e.g. environmental science, engineering, architecture, energy policy); postgraduate qualification strongly preferred (e.g. MSc in Sustainability, Retrofit, or Energy Systems)

Chartered status or equivalent senior accreditation preferred (e.g. MIEMA, CEnv, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant, Retrofit Coordinator L5 Diploma)

Proven experience delivering retrofit and building decarbonisation programmes in line with PAS 2035, EPC/SAP frameworks, or whole-building performance standards

Advanced understanding of carbon accounting (Scopes 1–3), ESG strategy, climate risk frameworks (e.g. TCFD), and environmental compliance (e.g. SECR, ESOS)

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder facilitation skills with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams and managing external partners

Desirable Extras

Practical experience with BREEAM, LEED, WELL, or OneClick LCA/Tally

Familiarity with circular economy principles and materials optimisation

Track record of winning work, securing grants, or supporting business development

Experience working in or alongside local government, housing, or the built environment sector
